5 Must have Items for a crawling baby

We all heard it when we had our newborn, whether it was welcomed or not, “enjoy it now, just wait until they start moving”.  I personally do not resonate with this though, I could not wait until Averly started crawling, and moving, and being a little person. I had a few items that I NEEDED to get me through those wiggly days. I am a bit over protective and wanted to make sure she didn’t hurt herself (don’t worry she definitely had gotten her far share of bumps and bruises). So seriously look into these items because they will save your sanity!

Number one item on my list SAVED ME! All babies will fall guys, and it’s totally fine, buttttt this item helped give me a little peace of mind knowing when she was extra wobbly, her fall wouldn’t be too hard. When I bought it, it was not on amazon yet, BUT I recently purchased it for a friend and found it, thank the amazon gods.

Foldable Baby Mat

Number 2 item on the list, is also unbelievable, especially if you have more then one kiddo at home. You guys I love this thing. Not only does it ensure your child in a safe place if you  have to shower, use the bathroom, cook, etc, it also is amazing for the beach, outside parties, and playdates! I have even used it as a ball pit. The best part is it folds up super easy and can be stored anywhere! It’s not really bulky either. I feel like playpens are making a comeback and I am ALL about it!

DIY Baby gate

So obviously when your baby starts moving you need to take precautions. My hubs is a big proponent of lettering Averly explore, I on the other hand am a bit overprotective and definitely neurotic. He did agree to baby gates, since we have a staircase in the middle of our living room. I also really LOVE our living room decor, and handled the crazy amount of toys sprawled all over, but I wanted a gate that matched our house and was not plastic. MY handy hubby made me beautiful hand crafted baby gates, that look like fixtures in our house. We get so many compliments on them, and they keep Averly off the stairs.

Number 4

I live by the beach. I don’t know if I ever mentioned that before. My husband and I both grew up near the coast, and knew we absolutely wanted to raise our family there as well. We were stoked she was 6+ months during the summer and could wear sunblock (serious win) BUT we didn’t account for the challenge of having a curious baby who wants to crawl around in the sand at the beach, and desperately wanted to be in on the action, but wasn’t quite big enough yet. We also ran into this problem in the baby pool, since she wanted to swim around and I have an irrational fear of dry drowning. So I did a little research and spent the best $20.00 of the summer. Seriously get this, you will thank me later.

Number 5 magnet baby locks

As I stated earlier I love child safety, but I also love my home decor So if I find a product that delivers safety and is aesthetically pleasing I’m most likely going to purchase it. I have read too many articles about babies getting a hold of household cleaning products, and that seriously freaks me out. So I wanted to make sure we were really safe when locking our cabinets in our kitchen and bathrooms. We found magnetic baby locks, that are not visible on the outside of the cabinets, and super easy to install and use. Anytime I can install something without my husband having to bring out the power tools it’s a win.
